Are you ready to set sail with confidence? The Guilford Fire Department is excited to announce an upcoming Safe Boating Class on October 21, 2023. Whether you're a seasoned boater or a beginner looking to explore the open waters, this class is designed to equip you with the knowledge and skills to stay safe while enjoying your time on the water.


Course Highlights:

Certificate of Personal Watercraft Operation (CPWO):** Successful completion of this course will qualify you to purchase a Certificate of Personal Watercraft Operation (CPWO) for just $50 through the Sportsmen Licensing System. The CPWO allows you to operate any recreational vessel, including personal watercraft.


Age Restrictions:

- No person under the age of 16 can operate a personal watercraft without onboard supervision by an individual at least 18 years old who holds a CPWO.

- Children under the age of 16 are not permitted to operate vessels engaged in tubing or water-skiing. However, a child under 16 may operate other vessels without a SBC or CPWO, provided they are under the direct supervision of a person at least 18 years old with at least two years of boating certificate experience.

- Children under 12 with a SBC or CPWO can operate vessels with up to 10 horsepower only if accompanied by a person at least 18 years old holding a SBC or CPWO.
